Pak Kyai Tidak Membuat Istrinya Bahagia



Suatu ketika Pak Kyai pernah diminta menjadi penasehat sebuah pengajian ibu-ibu. Ia hadir bersama istrinya. Ketika Pak Kyai sedang menyampaikan nasehat, istrinya duduk di barisan terdepan dan mendengarkan nasehat suaminya. Cerita berawal Ketika sampai pada sesi tanya jawab. Di sesi tanya jawab itu, setelah beberapa pertanyaan, seorang ibu mengacungkan tangannya untuk bertanya kepada istri Pak Kyai. Ketika diberikan kesempatan, pertanyaan ibu itu seperti ini, "Bu Kyai, apakah selama pernikahan Anda, Pak Kyai membuat Anda bahagia?" Seluruh ruangan langsung terdiam. Satu pertanyaan yang bagus. Dan semua peserta penasaran menunggu jawaban Bu Kyai. Bu Kyai tampak berpikir beberapa saat dan kemudian menjawab,"Tidak."



Seluruh ruangan langsung terkejut dan ramai berbisik. "Tidak!?," katanya lagi, "Pak Kyai tidak bisa membuatku bahagia." Seisi ruangan langsung menoleh ke

arah Pak Kyai dengan pandangan heran, sinis dan penuh tanda tanya (kebayang ga’ apa yang ada di pikiran seorang Kyai saat istrinya berkata seperti itu) dan Pak Kyai pun kaget dan hanya tersenyum kecut dan sesekali menundukkan pandangannya, karena malu. Kemudian, lanjut Bu Kyai, "Pak Kyai adalah seorang suami yang sangat baik. Ia tidak pernah berjudi, mabuk-mabukan, selingkuh dan kasar pada keluarga. Ia sabar dan perhatian, selalu memenuhi kebutuhan saya, baik jasmani maupun rohani. Tapi, tetap dia tidak bisa membuat saya bahagia."

Tiba-tiba ada suara bertanya, "Mengapa?" Bu Kyai pun melanjutkan penjelasannya, "karena tidak ada seorang pun di dunia ini yang bertanggung jawab atas kebahagiaanku selain diriku sendiri. Tidak ada orang lain yang bisa membuatmu bahagia. Baik itu pasangan hidupmu, anakmu, sahabatmu, uangmu, dan jabatanmu Semua itu tidak bisa membuatmu bahagia. Karena yang bisa membuat seseorang bahagia adalah dirinya sendiri. Kalau seseorang sering merasa berkecukupan, qona’ah, selalu mensyukuri apa yang ada, tidak pernah punya perasaan kekurangan, minder dan selalu percaya diri, maka orang itu tidak akan merasa sedih. Sesungguhnya hati dan pola pikir kita yang menentukan apakah kita bahagia atau tidak, bukan faktor dari luar. Bahagia atau tidaknya hidupmu bukan ditentukan oleh seberapa kaya dirimu, seberapa pandai dirimu, seberapa baik pasanganmu, atau sesukses apa hidupmu. Ini masalah pilihan dalam hati : apakah kamu memilih untuk bahagia atau tidak bahagia dengan apa yang kamu miliki.”

Seluruh peserta pengajian diam dan menganggukkan-anggukan kepala tanda setuju.
